The City of Concord currently has areas of inadequate water availability in the event of a fire emergency. The Concord water system serves a population of approximately 80,000 people, which includes industrial, commercial and residential customers. Due to the age of the water system and the ongoing growth of the service area, required fire flow is not available for all intended uses throughout the system. This study will identify the areas of inadequate fire flows based on current and projected land use, as well as a list of deficiencies and necessary infrastructure improvements to address those deficiencies. Ensuring adequate water supply in the event of a fire emergency is a valuable use of taxpayer dollars.
