Type: Homeland Security

The City of Concord requests $187,500 to identify specific improvements to ensure adequate fire flow is available in an emergency. The City of Concord is currently aware of areas of inadequate water availability in the event of a fire emergency. The Concord water system serves a population of approximately 80,000 people, which includes industrial, commercial and residential customers. Due to the age of the water system and the ongoing growth of the service area, required fire flow is not available for all intended uses throughout the system. Funds will be used to identify the areas of inadequate fire flows based on current and projected land use, as well as a list of deficiencies and necessary infrastructure improvements to address those deficiencies. It is imperative to identify areas of inadequate fire flow and rectify the problem before a disaster occurs. This project will minimize threat to human life and safety and damage of property during a fire emergency.
